Former Prime Minister and Parliamentary Candidate make fact finding visit
We recently welcomed Robert Courts, the Conservative candidate in the Witney by-election, and former Prime Minister David Cameron on their fact finding visit to the College.
Robert Courts and David Cameron met Mr Surrall and his Computing class and our year 9 students working with the Royal Navy Youth Engagement Team before meeting privately with the College leadership team to discuss the pressures and recent successes of the College and our federation as well as issues facing Carterton that a future MP would face.
After the visit, Mr Booth said
“We were delighted to host David Cameron and the Conservative candidate for Witney and West Oxfordshire, Robert Courts, at Carterton Community College this morning. We were really pleased they took such an interest in our expanding Sixth Form. I was impressed by the high quality of engagement and questions posed by our students to David and Robert. They visited our new Computer Science lab and dropped in on the Youth Engagement Team from the Royal Navy, who were leading a session on team building. We pride ourselves in providing our students with the opportunity to interact with high quality successful professionals, in this case, politicians and personnel from our armed forces, as part of our ongoing drive to inspire high standards and high aspirations”.
