Role of the Governing Board

Active and involved Governors play a vital role in the success of schools. They are not involved in the operations or management of the school but instead play a strategic and oversight role.

Our Governing Board;

Contribute to the strategic discussions at governing body meetings
Hold the senior leaders to account by monitoring the school’s performance
Ensure the school staff have the resources and support they require to do their jobs well
Ensures there are clear and ambitious strategic priorities and targets for the school

Committee Structure

The Governing Board meets a minimum of 6 times per year as a Full Governing Board. Each governor holds a link role aligned with the School Development Plan and they conduct planned visits in between these meetings focused on their particular area.

Reports from these visits are prepared and discussed at the subsequent governor meeting. This allows the board to triangulate information provided by the Head Teacher and from other sources such as published and internal data.

As safeguarding is an overriding priority, we maintain a separate Safeguarding group which meets at least twice per year.

Contact the Governing Board

Jonathan Smith is the Governance Professional and Clerk to the Governing Board. He is responsible for preparation of the agendas and minutes. He also advises the Governors on the matters at hand and co-ordinates the business of governance. Jonathan also works for Oxfordshire County Council Governor Services.
