SCHOOL UNIFORM

If students are neatly dressed, it gives people a good impression of our school and of the individual students. Uniform at Carterton Community College is compulsory, and you are responsible for making sure that you come to school in full school uniform every day. We are committed to fairness and equality, hence our focus on ensuring that all our students follow our uniform expectations. For both boys and girls the school uniform is:

Homework
Homework has a really positive imact in Secondary Schools, particularly when linked to to the ongoing classroom work. It encourages students to become independant learners. Our homework expectations will vary between departments and key stage. All homework set will be published on our homework platform which will be visible for both parents and students. https://classroom.google.com
STRUCTURE OF THE SCHOOL DAY
The school day starts at 08:30 for Registration. All students must be present at 08:30 to avoid a late mark in the register.
We have structured the school day to ensure that there are breaks between lessons to enable students to go to the toilet, get something from our Dining Room and to have a concentration break.
We split our school lunches to keep our lower school together and ease congestion in our Dining Room. This is also our time for extended tutor time, character and personal development education.
The school day ends at 15:00 with the buses for local villages leaving at 15:10
Good Attendance
This is a successful school and your child plays their part in making it so. We aim for an environment which enables and encourages all members of the community to reach out for excellence. For our children to gain the greatest benefit from their education it is vital that they attend regularly and your child should be at school, on time, every day the school is open unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable.
It is very important therefore that you make sure that your child attends regularly and our Attendance Policy sets out how together we will achieve this.
It is important that children absent from school are able to continue their learning. We use lessons and learning material from the National Oak Academy. Please use the link provided and talk to your child’s tutor.
