KS4 Curriculum

The curriculum at KS4 is based on 3 distinct learning pathways.

EBACC pathway An academic pathway that includes GCSE qualifications that lead to the English Baccalaureate. This pathway also includes separate Sciences
Technical pathway Mixture of academic GCSE qualifications (including English Language and Literature, Combined Science and a Humanity) and vocational courses
Applied pathway GCSE qualifications in core subjects (including English Language and Literature, Combined Science and a Humanity) but more vocational option courses

Students will be guided towards a learning pathway based on their academic profile and individual flair for subjects only open to that pathway.

In year 9 students are given advice and guidance from subject specialists about the subjects they should study at KS4 then opt for subjects available in their learning pathway.

The 14–19 curriculum considers the progression from KS4 through the continuation of learning pathways into Post 16 and beyond. This is achieved by the offer of complementary courses at Level 2 (KS4) and Level 3 (Post 16).
