At Carterton Community College, positive behaviour is noticed, celebrated and rewarded. We believe that recognising effort, improvement and positive choices builds confidence, motivation and long-term success.
Rewards will always outweigh sanctions over time, reinforcing that positive behaviour is the norm and expected. Sanctions are used fairly and proportionately, not as punishment, but as an opportunity to reflect, reset and return to learning.
We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication. When students struggle, we respond with support, guidance and restorative approaches, helping them learn from mistakes and develop the skills needed to succeed.
Our aim is to make school unmissable — a place where students feel safe, supported and empowered to become caring, considerate and capable young people, ready for life beyond the classroom.
Be on time, prepared and ready to learn. Show resilience and ambition even when learninh feels hard. Take pride in your work and show independence.
Show kindness and be respectful of others. Support other members of our community when needed.
Make positive choices. Take responsibility for your own learning. Use calm behaviour and polite language.
