STUDENT SUPPORT
High expectations are matched with high levels of support. Every student is known and supported by a tutor team who monitor academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development. Subject teachers provide targeted feedback and intervention where needed, ensuring students remain challenged but supported.
Wellbeing is a priority. Students are encouraged to seek help early and make use of the pastoral and safeguarding support available. Sixth Form is a time of growth and change, and we aim to ensure students feel safe, supported, and confident in asking for guidance.
SAFEGUARDING
Safeguarding is a priority across the school community. Our staff are trained to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring that all students feel safe and protected during their time in Sixth Form.
If a student is worried about themselves or someone else, they are encouraged to speak to a trusted member of staff. Our safeguarding team works closely with families and external agencies where appropriate to ensure students receive the support they need.
Every student in the Sixth Form is part of a tutor group and supported by a dedicated tutor. Tutors are the first point of contact for guidance, support, and advice throughout a student’s time with us.
Regular one-to-one mentoring conversations allow students to discuss their academic progress, wellbeing, and future aspirations. Tutors also support students with university applications, apprenticeships, references, and next-step planning.
Where additional support is needed, students may also be supported by our wider pastoral team, safeguarding leads, or external support services. Our approach is proactive — we aim to identify concerns early and ensure that students receive the guidance they need to move forward positively.
Our pastoral structure ensures that students will have key members of staff available to reach out to when needed.
The first point of contact is the tutor - Tutors monitor academic progress, attendance, wellbbeng, and future plans. They are the first person students should speak to if they have questions, concerns, or need advice.
We understand that maintaining good mental health is essential for success in Sixth Form and beyond. Students are encouraged to develop strategies for managing workload, balancing responsibilities, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Support may include:
Access to trained pastoral staff
Guidance on managing stress and exam pressure
Support with personal challenges or difficult circumstances
Signposting to specialist services when appropriate
We encourage students to speak openly about any concerns they may have. Asking for help is a strength, and early conversations allow us to provide the right support at the right time.
